Regardless of your niche, the best and cheapest way to reach your clients and customers on a consistent basis is to send out a newsletter. Newsletters help to put your name and services into the fore-front of your clients’ minds.
How do you know if your newsletter is working? I know a mom who runs an online craft store. She buys products that she finds and re-sells them via a website. She has a booming business, and it is completely sold by obtaining a list of clients and marketing to that list. Periodically, she sends out a newsletter. The newsletter highlights new products, popular products, and products that might be on sale that month. She knows her newsletter works because sales on the items in her newsletter triple during the week after her newsletter is sent out.
If she sends out her newsletter too often, she notices that people start to ignore the emails. If she spreads them out too far, she loses out on potential sales that could be generated by her newsletter. She experimented with different frequencies of her newsletter and found that her niche responds better when she sends them out periodically instead of on a schedule. Other niches prefer a schedule. Some prefer weekly, some monthly.
Experiment with your newsletter. Does changing the frequency affect your open rate? Does it affect your sales?
