Recently, a reader asked me, “How do you find the energy to stay up late working on [the business]?” Finding the time to start a business when you are a mother can be quite challenging. Most mothers already feel so overwhelmed with their duties and responsibilities that they couldn’t imagine finding more time to start a business. So how do some mothers do it??
The key to finding the time and the motivation to start a business is DESIRE. We all find the energy to do the things that are really important to us. If you want something badly enough, you will find it hard to tear yourself away! Have you ever noticed that the tasks you enjoy the most get done more often, yet the tasks you don’t like at all you always seem to find a reason why you don’t need to complete them until another day? It’s human nature to be more motivated for the things that we enjoy.
Here is a short list of things to think about when you are struggling with finding the energy or motivation to move forward:
- Make sure that starting a business is something you really want to do for yourself. It should be something you feel you need to do to grow as a person. Starting a business requires a great deal of work and should be built on the premise that you will be helping others while you yourself is growing as a person. In other words, you need to be in it for more than just the money.
- In order to be successful, a business needs to grow from the heart of the owners. Your business should be in alignment with your passions, dreams and goals. If everything is in alignment, then the motivation and energy will just flow.
- Sometimes fear can hold us back from accomplishing what we want the most. If your fears are stronger than your desires to move forward, then you will come to a standstill, or you may take one step backward for every two steps forward. Finding those fears and overcoming them can ensure a continued success.
